Nutrition Tips

Hello Everyone!

I challenged myself to help as many people as I can utilizing the resources available to me on January 1, 2011.

Here is a list of nutrition tips I believe anyone can benefit from:

CHLOROPHYLL

I purchase it  @ Whole Foods
Brand: Desouza's Chlorophyll (Liquid Form)

LEMON H20

Here is a link explaining the health and weight loss benefits of adding lemon to our H20:

I purchase organic lemons only (my preference)

GREEN TEA

Green tea burns fat and allows you to exercise longer. Here is a link describing all of the wonderful health benefits of drinking green tea.
http://www.amazing-green-tea.com/green-tea-benefits.html

I drink Herbalife's instant Green Tea.  It burns 80 calories per cup. It's pure and from whole leaf. No fillers, etc. It's easy to sprinkle on my water because it's instant. No boiling or waiting to cool down required.

WATER

DRINK DAILY

The amount of ounces should equal the half of your body weight divided by 2. (For example: 136 lbs/2 - Should drink 68 ounces)
Water does wonders for your weight loss journey.

DRINK ALOE VERA JUICE

Aloe benefits your digestive system. A healthy digestive system can help increase your metabolism, making it easier to lose weight or maintain healthy weight. It can also improve the absorption of nutrients and help to prevent many diseases.

I love Herbalife's Mango Aloe! The quality of Herbalife's Aloe surpasses the usual Aloe available in your local grocery store. It is made from the aloe plant which contains natural enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that help support healthy digestion.

MY HEALTH JOURNEY

I love my curves! Always have and always will! But, when I found out my Body Fat Percentage was 36%. I had to make a change. That basically meant almost half of my body was fat. I weighed 136lbs 12/14/10 and was a vegetarian.  I currently weigh 115 lbs 4/15/11 and follow a vegan diet. But, more importantly my Body Fat Percentage has decreased. Which is much more important than what the scale reflects. Here is a typical day for me and how I achieved my weight loss.

Breakfast – 7am

Herbalife's Healthy Meal Nutritional Shake w/ 1 cup of frozen fruit, Almond Milk (homemade), Chlorophyll

12 ounces of H20 w/ Herbalife Mango Aloe and Herbalife’s Green Tea (Burns 80 cal. Per cup), slice of organic lemon

Snack – 10 am

Handful of raw organic almonds, small organic apple
12 ounces of H20 w/ slice of organic lemon

Lunch - 1pm

Herbalife's Healthy Meal Nutritional Shake w/ 1 cup of frozen fruit, Almond Milk (homemade)

12 ounces of H20 w/slice of organic lemon

Gym

I hit the gym at least 4-5 days a week. 1 hr of Cardio and weights. 1 hour of Cardio burns my breakfast and lunch. (Usually 400 cal. Per hour)

Snack - 4pm

Organic Cucumber, Organic Peanut Butter  (sometimes I eat organic steel-cut oatmeal sweetened  with Agave, Peanut Butter or Almonds)

12 ounces of H20 w/slice of organic lemon

Dinner – 7pm

Usually a balance of protein and carbs. It really varies based on what I have a taste for...I eat sweet potatoes every day. Because I just love them. Sliced, cover with olive oil, curry powder and bake @ 350. Lots and lots of beans. I love beans! I’ve recently began preparing Kale, Collard Greens, and Daikon. They are just too full of nutrition not to include in your diet. I learned about these veggies in "The Kind Diet" book. Yes, I know we all know about greens. But, I just prepare them in a basic way and season to taste. Basically my dinner is a hodge podge. That’s why Herbalife works for me because I only have one meal to think about.

Note: I follow a vegan diet. So for all of you that love meat..Just add the meat of your choice to the mix. I hope you choose organic :-). Read Jillian's book and you'll understand why.

What I love about Herbalife is that it's quick, easy, and inexpensive. Everything is plant based and nutrient rich. You get a lot of nutrition without a lot of calories. I have amazing energy and I stay full throughout the day. Honestly, I am not even hungry when it's time for my snack 3 hours after breakfast and lunch. But, it's important to eat throughout the day to keep your metabolism going. The shakes are filled with vitamins and possess a great balance of proteins and carbs. Most importantly they keep you full and satisfied! People can pass a snicker's bar in front of me and I have no desire to eat. You actually have the energy and desire to work out! 1 hour on the treadmill (usually 400 cal for me) and that burns your breakfast and lunch calories. That's why it works!

Note: If you feel hungry after your snack. Eat more of it. When I began working out initially. The cucumber and almonds as a snack wasn’t doing it for me. So I began eating organic steel-cut oatmeal with peanut butter or almonds. Just listen to your body. It will let you know what to do.

I offer FREE customized nutritional plans to everyone. Doesn't matter what state you live in. You may also contact me if you're interested in purchasing Herbalife Products. I love them and that's why I'm sharing the information. I'm passionate about health and nutrition! I always have been since working out to Body Electric on PBS when I was young. LOL! The lines are getting too long for healing at my church and they're filled with African Americans. We have to take better care of our health. Weight loss isn't about vanity. It's about our health!  Please forward this posting to all of your friends and family. Feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or suggestions for future "Nutrition Tips."

Update 2/17/11 - I have began juicing daily with my Jack Lalanne Juicer. I juice kale, cucumbers, oranges, pineapple, carrots, kiwi, green apple, etc...I do this first thing in the morning. There's something about starting your day with raw, fresh, and organic nutrients. It's the best way for me to break-my-fast (breakfast).

  2. With regards to the amount of water someone should drink...shouldn't that 136 pound person drink 34 ounces of water a day instead of 68? ("half of your body weight divided by 2")

    1. Hi Dajubo! No, it is correct as written. 136/2 = 68 or 68 X 2 = 136. Feel free to ask any further questions. Thank you for reading my blog!
